Grounds

Goal

The main goal of the Grounds Division is to provide a pleasing and lasting look for both residents and visitors to the City of Sanford. This is done by continually planting and maintaining green spaces, rights of way, traffic islands, plant beds, and more throughout the city limits.

Role

The division plants annual and perennial flowers, maintains the City's green spaces by mowing, pruning shrubs and trees, and applying mulch.

Staff also manage pests, care for the bee hives at the Sanford Municipal Center, and maintain holiday decorations throughout municipal facilities and in downtown Sanford.

Additionally, the division works to keep the city free of litter and oversees various other related projects that keep the community vibrant and well maintained.
