Curbs & Gutters

Initial installation of curb and gutter on City-maintained streets is at the request and expense of the property owner. An interested property owner should call the Engineering Department at 919-777-1122 for curb and gutter specifications.

The City provides maintenance on existing curb and gutter of city maintained/owned streets as needed where safety is a concern.

The City is responsible for the maintenance of City-owned/maintained streets. However, when City services (such as water or sewer work) requires an excavation of state-maintained streets, the City will perform utility patching at the work site.

To report a pothole, call the Public Works Service Center at 919-775-8247.

Street Closures

There are several reasons streets may be closed in the City of Sanford.

Street Resurfacing

The City's goal is to resurface streets once every 12 years, if funding is available. The average life of a street is 12-15 years.

Street Sweeping

The City sweeps streets with curb and gutter on a regular basis by scheduled routes as weather permits.
