The city provides maintenance on existing curb and gutter of city maintained / owned streets as needed where safety is a concern.
The city is responsible for the maintenance of city maintained and owned streets. However, when city services such as water or sewer work requires an excavation of a state maintained streets, the city will perform utility patching at the work site.

Special Event street closures are now being overseen by Nick Fortune, Sanford Parks Administrator. In the event of an emergency services street closure, i.e. police, fire or ambulance please contact the police department at 919-775-8268. The City's goal is to resurface streets once every twelve years if funding is available. The average life of a street is twelve to fifteen years.
The city sweeps streets with curb and gutter on a regular basis by scheduled routes as weather permits.
