After a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Sanford is excited to announce it will celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in October this year.
Although it has typically celebrated NNO on the first Tuesday in August, the City has scheduled its event for the first Tuesday of October to take advantage of cooler temperatures. Both dates are supported and encouraged by the National Association of Town Watch.
After skipping the event the last two years due to the public health crisis, the Sanford Police Department, Sanford Fire Department, elected officials, and staff hope Sanford’s neighbors are ready to gather together this fall.
“Our goal is to reconnect with our community and bring neighbors back together in a fun and safe way for all involved,” says Kelly Miller, public information officer and National Night Out program coordinator for the City of Sanford.
Registration is now open on the City’s website at www.sanfordnc.net/nno. Registration will close on September 27, 2022.
The Sanford Fire Department will again use National Night Out as an opportunity to share fire prevention tips and to educate residents about the department’s free smoke detector program. City residents who need a smoke detector should contact the department at 919-777-1301 immediately to schedule an installation.
