The City of Sanford’s Parks and Grounds Department will kick off its summer music series on Thursday, May 29, at Kiwanis Family Park.
The music series offers live music on the stage at Kiwanis Family Park on select Thursdays at 6:30pm. On select Sundays at 5pm, the series will offer acoustic sounds. Running through September 4, the series features a diverse lineup of local and regional bands and soloists.
“We’re excited for another summer season filled with even more music,” says Caroline Jeffries, Parks and Grounds Administrator. “We’re bringing a vibrant mix of genres to the stage, with something for everyone.”
Getting the summer started on May 29 will be Where’s Eddie?, a Greensboro-based cover band known for its versatile mix of classic and southern rock, modern country, and everything in-between.
The month of June will be full of music. The R&B and soul artist John G. Franklin will open the acoustic series on Sunday, June 8, followed by bluegrass band The Asheville Mountain Boys on Sunday, June 22.
Keeping the music going during the week will be country and southern rock band 2Digh4 on Thursday, June 12, and local favorites Workin’ on Commission on Thursday, June 26.
A full lineup for July and August – including multiple acts planned for Freedom Fest on July 4 — will be available at www.sanfordnc.net/music. “This promises to be a summer of unforgettable performances under the sun and stars,” Jeffries promises.
Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets. Coolers are welcome (no glass). Mobile vendors will offer refreshments for purchase each night of the series.
