With snow and ice accumulations and low temperatures creating hazardous driving conditions, the City of Sanford’s administrative offices will remain closed for Thursday, February 20, 2025.
GFL Environmental will start the Thursday route at 9 AM, depending on conditions. Residents should leave their carts at the curb until they are serviced.
The City of Sanford’s leaf, limb, and bulk trash collection crews will not operate on Thursday. They will resume collection on their regular schedule as conditions allow.
Public Works crews have been working tirelessly throughout the day, plowing and treating City-maintained roads with a salt and sand mixture, prioritizing high-risk areas such as overpasses, bridges, and shaded streets.
A total of 5 plows have been deployed to clear the roads, and approximately 70 tons of salt and sand mixture have been prepared to manage this winter weather event. Drivers are asked to use caution as roadways remain slick.
The Sanford Police Department and Sanford Fire Department will operate as usual. In case of life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1. For other concerns, such as downed trees in public roadways, call 919-775-8268.
