[ARCHIVED] StreetFest & Fireworks Announces Lineup for Oct 14 Festival

StreetFest

Downtown Sanford StreetFest & Fireworks is excited to share the lineup for this year’s celebration, which will be October 14 this year.

This festival held annually on the second Saturday of October offers a full day of music and performances, more than 15 food trucks, craft and artisan vendors, demos, and – of course – fireworks. Festivities kick-off at 1 p.m. and run all day.

Due to Depot Park being closed, the festival’s footprint has expanded to include Steele Street starting at Gordon Street. Another new addition to the event is dedicated disability parking in the Carthage Street parking lot. Carthage Street will remain open from Moore Street to allow for this option.

The main stage will remain at the intersection of Wicker and Steele streets and will open at 2 p.m. with local favorite Workin’ on Commission followed by country rockers The Megan Doss Band. This year’s headline band is Cat5, known of its mix of beach, classic rock, and party music.

LatinoFest is returning to the festival with artisan vendors and special performances on Wicker Street that celebrate Latin heritage. A special feature of LatinoFest will be a community Day of the Dead ofrenda to which attendees can add photos and mementos of lost loved ones. After StreetFest, the ofrenda will be on display at the Lee County Library.

This year’s second stage will be located at the intersection of Carthage and Steele streets. This area will showcase local talent starting at 1:30 p.m. The full second-stage lineup includes Danza Azteca Olin, Dancers’ Workshop, the Temple Teen Ensemble, Prime Time Dance Academy, LCHS Show Choir, and Black Belt Leadership Academy.

Rounding out the event will be a Pint Sized Pasture petting zoo, a fun zone sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Central Carolina, a sports zone at KW Legacy on Steele Street, and a touch-a-truck in the First Citizens Bank parking lot. The National Guard will have an activity area and Wishes Character Company, a balloon artist, and a roving LED hoop artist will roam the streets.

Downtown restaurants and shops will be open on their regular schedules. Food trucks will be set up around downtown offering a mix of American and international cuisines and both sweet and savory options. Craft and artisan vendors will join them on the streets. There will also be educational and interactive booths for the whole family.

As the live music winds down, head to Moore Street for the best fireworks viewing. The firework display will light up the sky over downtown starting around 8:45 p.m., depending on weather.

The City of Sanford, Downtown Sanford, El Refugio, presenting sponsor Central Carolina Hospital, and the Visit Sanford Tourism Development Authority encourage the whole community to join in on this annual celebration of Sanford.
