Due to impending winter weather, the City of Sanford’s administrative offices at the Sanford Municipal Center and the Buggy Company Building will be closed on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Note that curbside trash and recycle may be delayed. GFL will collect curbside trash and recycling until weather conditions worsen. Any residents that are missed during Friday’s route will be serviced the following Friday. There will be no bulk trash, leaf, or limb collection.
The City of Sanford Public Works Department remains prepared for potential winter weather. Snow plows have been fitted with new blades, and blades have been added to dump trucks to help with any additional needs. City backhoes have been prepped to help with removing downed trees.
Remember: The City of Sanford only plows City owned/maintained streets that have greater than one inch of snow. For less than one inch of snow or for ice, the City will treat its streets, overpasses, and bridges with a mixture of salt and sand.
Lee County urges residents to enroll in CodeRED, an electronic emergency notification system that enables local public safety personnel to notify residents and businesses of emergencies that may require action. Alerts come via telephone, text message, and email. There is no cost to register to receive CodeRED alerts.
Duke Energy and Central Electric have reached out to customers with information about reporting outages and tracking restoration, as well as to provide tips about preparing for winter weather.
