On May 30, Gov. Roy Cooper signed Executive Order No. 142 to extend the prohibition of utility shut-offs and implement a moratorium on evictions in response to the ongoing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The extension took effect immediately and lasts for 60 days.
Therefore, the City of Sanford’s customer service department will not open to the public on Monday, June 1 as previously planned. (View earlier release here.)
Utility customers have several options for making payments or for establishing or disconnecting services. Those options are:
- by mail,
- by phone at 919-775-8215 (24/7 automated service),
- online at www.sanfordnc.net,
- at any local CheckFreePay Payment Center, and
- at the drop box located in the U-drive at the Sanford Municipal Center at 225 E. Weatherspoon Street.
Customer service representatives are available to speak by phone during regular business hours at 919-775-8215, including to discuss payment plan options for bills due after March 1, 2020.
