The following release is shared on behalf of Lee County Government as a courtesy to City of Sanford residents.
On Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, the Lee County Government (LCG) Health Department will hold a COVID-19 drive-thru, community testing site from 8:30 AM until 6:30 PM at Deep River Elementary School located at 4000 Deep River Road in Sanford. The Health Department is working in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Piedmont Health, Lab Corp, and the North Carolina National Guard to provide the community testing event.
“We are thankful for the support of our partners in helping us provide a community testing site in Lee County,” said Heath Cain, LCG Health Director. “We know how important increasing the availability of testing is to help manage and stop the spread of COVID-19 and we hope the community will take advantage of this opportunity to be tested.”
The criteria for testing includes:
- anyone with COVID 19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or sore throat); and
- close contacts of known positive cases, regardless of symptoms; and
- anyone at higher risk of exposure or at a higher risk for severe disease, regardless of symptoms.
Testing is open to the general public at no cost. Individuals may register for the event and receive an appointment time by calling 919-542-4991 ext 1015 for English or ext 1016 for Spanish.
To learn more about the status of Lee County Government operations and response efforts related to COVID-19, the county has established the COVID-19 Information Hotline at 919-352-3360; the hotline is available Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM.
