Notice is hereby given that the Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 28, 2019, in the Buggy Conference Room of the Buggy Building, 115 Chatham Street, Sanford, NC 27330. The hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m. or as soon as deemed practical by the Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission. The Historic Preservation Commission will consider:
COA-19-57 – 303 Chatham Street – Demolition of the east elevation measuring 30 feet by 89 feet and the demolition of the south elevation measuring 18 feet by 67 feet. The applicant plans to face the east elevation with corrugated metal and install a metal door with a pull handle which shall be padlocked and the large existing garage style door on the south facing façade is to be bricked in. The area in which building are to be demolished shall be graded and gravel will be installed to create parking and access to the subject property. The existing building encompasses 7,809 sq. feet the demolition encompasses 3,876 sq. feet. The demolition (if approved) would decrease the size of the existing contributing building by 50%.
