The City of Sanford Appearance Commission invites the community to the Sanford Municipal Center on Saturday, May 3, 2025, for Bee City Field Day, a morning of activities dedicated to bees and pollinator preservation.
Award-winning Master Beekeeper Jody Moore and Dennis Brown, President of the Lee County NC Beekeepers Association, will answer questions about bees and beekeeping. Attendees can observe the City of Sanford's bee hives and watch a sugar dump demonstration.
The Appearance Commission will give out free bookmarks, honey candy, and pollinator-themed coloring sheets. They will also take preorders for Bee City t-shirts ($25) or sweatshirts ($33). Attendees can enter a raffle for a gift basket and a handmade cake.
There will be a limited number of vendors at the event. The Extension Master Gardeners of Lee County will offer bee-friendly plants for sale, Midnight Bee Supply will offer beekeeping supplies, and Homespun Honey will offer local honey and beeswax candles.
Bee City Field Day will run from 9am to noon, rain or shine.
