The Sanford Appearance Commission is currently accepting proposals for a commissioned public art mural in Downtown Sanford. This project will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Sanford Rotary Club and is part of several art initiatives to enhance public spaces.
The mural will be installed on the west-facing wall of 529 Wicker Street, encompassing approximately 660 square feet (55 feet long by 12 feet tall). The project is open to individual artists as well as collaborative teams. To be eligible, artists must reside in North Carolina or have been born and raised in the state.
Funded by the Sanford Rotary Club, this mural will become a distinctive visual landmark that celebrates the club’s history and contributions while adding to Sanford’s vibrant cultural landscape.
Proposals must be submitted by May 1, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. and should include a narrative of the concept, a to-scale rendering, an artist statement, and examples of past work, among other criteria. Only original artwork will be considered.
