The City of Sanford is holding its second public workshop on Thursday, October 24, at 6pm to gather feedback from the community on the Downtown Sanford Small Area Plan.
Attendees will hear an overview of the main ideas generated during the first workshop before breaking into small groups to refine the ideas and concepts. The workshop is open to all who would like to provide input.
The plan will serve as a comprehensive guide for development in Downtown Sanford over the next 15 to 20 years. The goal for the plan is to “foster economic growth and encourage high quality land development,” says David Montgomery, the City’s long-range planner.
The City hopes to hear from residents, business owners, property owners, and the broader Sanford community to create a shared vision for the future of the downtown area. The final plan will include recommendations on urban design and public space, parking, transportation and mobility, and development regulations.
The City has also created a survey to provide an opportunity for respondents to share their thoughts about the future of Downtown Sanford and adjacent neighborhoods. The survey is available here.
Staff encourages the public to participate in both input opportunities. See all information on the Downtown Plan at www.plan4downtown.com/sanford and follow the process on the City’s projects hub.
The workshop will be held in the Harper Center at First Presbyterian Church, located at 203 Hawkins Avenue in Sanford. The entrance is behind the church.
