The City of Sanford’s parks department is offering the public a chance to play Council Member for a Day this Saturday, December 2, to consider improvements for Walter McNeil Jr. Park.
The department held a public input session at the park in March to gather a list of wants from the public. The Saturday session will hone the “wish list” created this spring and present a budget to attendees that they then use to prioritize potential upgrades and enhancements.
Though the budget and spending are hypothetical, the department plans to use the feedback in an application for a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant. If awarded, the PARTF grant would match funds allocated by Sanford City Council for park improvements.
The public meeting will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park, located at 917 Martin Street in Sanford. The public is welcome to drop-in just to provide comments or to stay the entire session.
