ABC Board
The ABC Board operates an ABC System in the City of Sanford in conformance with North Carolina’s uniform system of control over the sale, purchase, transportation, manufacture, consumption, and possession of alcoholic beverages.

Airport Authority
The Airport Authority owns, controls, and operates a regional airport and all lands and operations related to the airport.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Committee conducts hearings at the request of disabled persons who feel the City of Sanford has discriminated against them in providing access to and participation in public facilities, services, activities, and functions. Committee meets on an as-needed basis.

Appearance Commission
The Appearance Commission promotes historic preservation and beautification efforts in the City of Sanford and formulates regulations and policies to promote those goals; makes recommendations to the City Council concerning appearance issues, including landscape and sign regulations and general urban design standards.

Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals from any review, order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with enforcement of the City Zoning Ordinance.

Equity Task Force Initiative
The Equity Task Force Initiative will examine and work to dismantle disparities in the lives of Sanford residents by bringing an equity lens to improve outcomes for all populations.

Fire Committee
City appointed members serve on the Board of Trustees for the Local Firemen's Relief Fund. The Board of Trustees meets rarely but must file a Report of Fire Condition and Financial Statement and Membership to the North Carolina Firemen's Association each year.

Friends of Sanford
Friends of Sanford, Inc. is a 501(c)3 unit of the City of Sanford formed to allow the public to have a voice in Sanford’s growth.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission works to protect Sanford’s architectural heritage by nominating properties and districts to the National Register of Historic Places, and establishing local historic districts where residents desire protection of their neighborhood’s historic resources.

Housing Appeals Board
The Housing Appeals Board provides a process whereby owners or occupants of residential structures may appeal decisions of the Building Inspector concerning orders issued for repair or demolition and public health nuisance abatement.

Joint Planning Commission
The Joint Planning Commission introduces text amendments and plans in order to provide a smoother process for the separate governmental entities of the county when considering adoption of said amendments and plans.

Joint Environmental Affairs Board
The Joint Environmental Affairs Board is an advisory board whose purpose is to maintain and improve the quality of the environment in Lee County.

Planning Board
The Planning Board conducts studies and recommends plans, policies, and ordinances relating to the growth and development of the City; makes recommendations concerning proposed conditional use permits and proposed land use ordinance and zoning map amendments.

Sanford / Lee County Partnership for Prosperity
The Sanford / Lee County Partnership for Prosperity DBA Sanford Area Growth Alliance (formerly Lee County Economic Development Corporation) engages in activities to expand and diversify the economic base of Lee County and raise overall prosperity through comprehensive economic, infrastructure, and workforce development strategies that support existing businesses and encourage new business recruitment.

Sanford Housing Authority
The Sanford Housing Authority provides safe, sanitary, and affordable housing to the low-income population of the City of Sanford and County of Lee through rental of dwellings owned by the Authority and through Section 8 Housing.

Sanford Parks Commission
The Sanford Parks Commission is an advisory group of citizens with particular interests related to promoting the creation, development, and use of municipal parks.

Tourism Development Authority
To promote, solicit, and encourage tourism in the City of Sanford; to advertise or market an area or activity; to publish and distribute pamphlets and other materials; to conduct market research; or to engage in similar promotional activities that attract tourists or business travelers to the area and to provide such services as are related to tourism.
