Central Intake consolidates the review and approval process for the Building Permitting/Inspections and Planning/Zoning departments. Applicants apply for the appropriate permit online through the CSS Online Portal.
The following is information required at the time of plan submittal:
- A completed Residential Project Application Packet.
- One set of building plans, including:
- Foundation and footing details
- Framing details
- Floor plans
- Structural requirements
- Elevations
- One set of site plans
- For properties served by private septic systems
- For properties served by private septic systems a Construction Authorization or approved re-evaluation from the Lee County Health Department is required if the property is served by a private septic system. The Lee County Environmental Health application has been consolidated with the Building Permit packet and is available online or in-person when applying.
Note: The City of Sanford does not collect fees on behalf of Lee County for Environmental Health. Please contact 919-718-4641 or envhealth@leecountync.gov for payment options and requirements. Additional information is available at the Lee County Environmental Health webpage.
- For properties within a Historic District
- a Certificate of Appropriateness is required prior to exterior renovations or additions to any property located within a Historic Preservation District within the City of Sanford. Please contact the Department of Community Development at 919-718-4657 for information on how to obtain a Certificate of Appropriateness.
Review Time
The average review time for single family residential plans by the Inspections and Planning Departments can be up to fifteen (15) business days.
