Yard Waste Collection

Service Overview

The City offers weekly residential collection of yard waste at curbside. These items are serviced on your scheduled collection day.

While crews make every effort to follow the schedule posted below, excessive amounts of yard waste, inclement weather, equipment failure and city observed holidays can delay leaf and limb collection. If your yard waste isn’t collected on your scheduled day, please allow us until the end of the week or the following work week to complete collection.

Yard waste should be left at curbside or at the city’s right-of way. All yard waste should remain in front of the property from which the waste originated. All items must be arranged into separate piles for servicing.

Example items of yard waste include:
  • Limbs
  • Plant or hedge clippings
  • Shrubs
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Pine needles

Things to know:

Leaf collection is divided into two seasons: peak (Nov-Feb) and non-peak (March-Oct). During peak season, crews will collect leaves and grass clippings weekly on your specified collection days.

During non-peak season, crews only collect leaves and grass clippings the first full week of each month. This lower frequency allows crews to focus on mowing.

Only 6 cubic yards of yard waste will be collected per household each week. Any amount exceeding 6 cubic yards will be collected the following week, up to 6 cubic yards. Volume exceeding 6 cubic yards for an extended period of time may result in a code enforcement violation.

Yard waste should be left at curbside or at the City’s right-of way. Yard waste must be placed at the curb by 7am on your scheduled collection day. All items must be arranged into separate piles for servicing.

Yard waste should not be bagged.

Leaf and limb piles should remain separated. Different trucks collect assorted yard waste. The leaf vacuum collects lighter waste and can be damaged by sticks, large stones, and pine cones.

Yard waste pickup will be from occupied residences only -- not from vacant lots or unoccupied properties.

Tree debris cut by contractors and/or commercial workmen will be the sole responsibility of the contractor to remove from the property. Note: Contract work is any work provided by a third party either paid or voluntary service.

The City will collect tree limbs that have been cut to 5 feet or less.

Limbs should not be positioned into the street causing traffic or drainage interference.

Christmas trees should be stripped of all decorations and other objects, including tinsel and nails, before leaving it at the curb. Trees with objects on them must be left behind to avoid damage to the limb grinding process.

Items we cannot collect with Yard Waste:

  • Debris cut by contractor and/or commercial workmen
  • Full trees or tree trunks, even if cut up
  • Rocks or Large stones
  • Concrete
  • Brick
  • Dirt
  • Metal
  • Cross Ties
  • Pallets

Yard Waste Collection Schedule

Note that during non-peak season (March-October), leaves and grass clippings will only be collected on your specified day during the first full week of the month. Limbs are collected weekly throughout the year on your specified collection day.
