Purpose
The Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial Park honors the late Dr. King while also providing a public space for citizens to reflect upon his work and its significance to our country.
Amenities
Located in a beautiful green space at Horner Boulevard and Washington Avenue, the memorial will be visible to the traveling public, as well as to residents.
The memorial is complete and includes:
- Brick memorial wall with Dr. King's image
- Benches
- Decorative lighting
- Flag poles
- Planters
Future park improvements include a landscaped noise barrier, bridge to access a parking lot, a walking trail, and a water feature.
MLK Memorial Brick
The MLK Memorial Committee and the City of Sanford allow the public to sponsor a brick to placed at the memorial for a $50 tax deductible contribution. The brick can be inscribed with a personalized inscription. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your support to Dr. Kings' legacy while also honoring or remembering a loved one, an individual, a church, or business, etc.
To contribute, please fill out and return the Brick Contribution Form (PDF) or the Patron Membership Form (PDF) along with your check to the address provided in the documents. Larger contributions are welcomed. All proceeds will be used for funding the memorial.
