Employment Process for Police Officers

The City of Sanford continuously accepts applications for the sworn Police Officer applicant pool. We invite applicants to submit an online application to be considered for any sworn Police Officer openings that may occur throughout the year.

Information regarding the requirements can be found under the Basic Qualifications and Requirements for Employment section. A  North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission Personal History Statement (F-3) must be completed and submitted as an attachment at the end of the online application process.

Please read the job opportunities position description carefully to be sure your background meets the requirements of the position. A resume may not be submitted for a complete application but may be included to supplement the application.

Application Consideration 

The City of Sanford accepts employment applications and  F-3’s at any time throughout the year for Police Officer. The employment application and F-3 is then forwarded to the police department for review and consideration.

The candidate may not be contacted immediately. The employment process normally takes several weeks to complete. We appreciate your patience during this process.

Application Tips

Applications must be completed online.

Applications and accompanying documents should be typed or printed legibly. Applications should be completed fully and provide sufficient description of prior work experience. Be sure to electronically sign your application.

Be sure to complete the "Position Applied For" section on the front of your application to assure correct consideration of your application.
