The City of Sanford's Parks and Grounds department seeks proposals from qualified firms to manage updates and enhancements to Walter McNeil Park.
The renovation will be partially funded through a $232,381 grant from the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF), which was awarded last September, following a comprehensive public feedback process to identify areas for improvement.
The funding will allow the City to update the park with amenities that appeal to a wide range of ages and recreational preferences. Enhancements include paved parking and a paved trail, a picnic shelter, a rain garden, and a horseshoe pitch in addition to a playground.
Named after long-time Council member Walter McNeil, Jr., the park “plays a vital role in elevating the quality of life for residents in the neighborhood while also contributing to the ongoing growth and improvement of our park system,” says Mayor Rebecca Salmon.
The selected firm will be responsible for providing full project management services, including planning and design coordination, construction oversight, grant reporting, and community engagement.
