Ebony McLean has been promoted to Transportation Administrator for the City of Sanford’s Public Works Department.
McLean is a graduate of North Carolina Central University who joined the City of Sanford in August 2007. She most recently served as the Facilities & Waste Services Coordinator.
McLean was selected as a 2016 Local Government Federal Credit Union Fellow by the UNC School of Government. As a Fellow, she completed the Leading for Results course at the School of Government.
“Ebony’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence make her an outstanding choice for Transportation Administrator,” says Public Works Director Fedd Walker. “Her deep-rooted passion for serving Sanford, combined with her experience and expertise, will undoubtedly enhance our city’s infrastructure and operations.”
McLean is the ultimate boy mom, and alongside her family, she enjoys cheering for and mentoring her son in travel basketball and baseball.
McLean is also deeply committed to serving Sanford, her hometown, and dedicated to fostering the growth and improvement of her community.
“I am excited for this opportunity to serve the residents of Sanford by providing responsive and efficient leadership to manage and maintain the City’s street system – which includes more than 130 miles of roadway and 32 miles of sidewalks – as well as the City’s fleet of nearly 300 vehicles,” says McLean.
McLean began serving in the role as of March 1, 2025.
