Sanford has been named a top North Carolina city for small businesses, thanks to its affordable commercial real estate costs and strong population increase since 2020.
The new report, published in February by business management specialists B2B Reviews, ranks Sanford as 15th in state for small businesses and entrepreneurs – ahead of similarly sized cities in our region like Fuquay-Varina and Apex.
Sanford’s “affordability and growing customer base make it an ideal location,” the report states. Sanford offers the lowest commercial real estate costs in the region, thought its growth is far outpaced by neighboring micropolitans.
B2B reviews analyzed North Carolina cities with over 20,000 residents, ranking them based on population share, growth rate, employer firm percentage, sales tax rate, and commercial real estate costs. Each city was scored on a 100-point scale to determine the best locations for small businesses.
