Veterans, their families, and all members of the community are invited to the Veterans Memorial at the Sanford Municipal Center on March 29 for a special flag raising in honor of Vietnam Veterans Day.
The ceremony will begin at 12:00 p.m. and will include a proclamation by Mayor Rebecca Wyhof Salmon. A special Vietnam Veteran Commemorative Flag will fly over Sanford alongside the United States and North Carolina flags all day.
The Private John Grady Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring the event to recognize, honor and thank our Vietnam veterans and their families. The Sanford Police Department Honor Guard will assist with the ceremony.
Vietnam Veterans Day is celebrated on March 29 each year to remember the date of the final withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam in 1973.
