The City of Sanford will celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in October this year.
Although it has typically celebrated NNO on the first Tuesday in August, the City has scheduled its event on the first Tuesday of October to take advantage of cooler temperatures. Both dates are supported and encouraged by the National Association of Town Watch.
After skipping the event last year due to the covid pandemic, the Sanford Police Department, Sanford Fire Department, elected officials, and staff hope Sanford’s neighbors are excited to gather together this fall. Registration is now open on the City’s website here.
“Our goal is to reconnect with our community and bring neighbors back together after a stressful and scary year apart,” says Kelly Miller, public information officer and National Night Out program coordinator for the City of Sanford.
The Sanford Fire Department will again use National Night Out as an opportunity to share fire prevention tips and to educate residents about the department’s free smoke detector program. City residents who need a smoke detector should contact the department at 919-777-1301 immediately to schedule an installation.
For more information or to get involved in National Night Out, contact Miller at 919-718-4658 x0 or via email.
