City water users may have noticed a change in the taste or odor of their water this week. This change is due to organic compounds that naturally occur in source waters as temperatures fluctuate.
Important: Water treated by the City of Sanford is safe to drink. Our water is monitored by computers and manual tests throughout the day at regular intervals. These ongoing quality tests show that our drinking water meets all state and federal standards.
Although the taste and odor may be unpleasant to some, the organic compounds are not toxic or harmful. This change is temporary and should end soon.
City crews are currently flushing lines throughout the system to help with turnover.
