Lee County Government (LCG) Health Department announced they are partnering with Optum Health and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to provide free COVID-19 drive-thru community testing December 18-20 in Sanford and December 26-27 in Broadway.
“The number of new cases of COVID-19 is on the rise in Lee County and we know that testing is a key component in the fight to slow the spread of the virus,” said Heath Cain, LCG Director of Health. “We are fortunate to have this partnership with Optum Health and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to provide the Lee County community with additional access to free COVID-19 testing this December and we hope the public will take advantage of the opportunity.”
The locations, dates, and times for testing are:
Piggly Wiggly, 2412 South Horner Boulevard, SanfordFriday, December 18: 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 20: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.Piggly Wiggly, 300 North Main Street, BroadwaySaturday, Dec. 26 and Sunday, Dec 27: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The testing events will take place in the parking lot each day.
Appointments for testing are not required but are strongly encouraged; testing may only be guaranteed for those with appointments. To schedule an appointment online, click here; if internet is not available or if you are scheduling for a minor, please call 877-562-4850.
Important: Appointments are by individual not vehicle; each individual who wants to be tested should make an appointment.
