The Department also enforces the minimum housing standards which require that occupied dwellings be maintained in a condition fit for human habitation and can require repair of deteriorated structures as well as demolition of dilapidated or abandoned structures. Code Enforcement recently began enforcing the Commercial Maintenance Code which contains provisions for maintenance, repair or demolition of commercial structures. The department also provides assistance and support to zoning, community development and various other City departments.
