Fire Department

The Sanford Fire Department is manned 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The Department protects around 30,000 people and it's jurisdiction covers 26.48 square miles. In charge of the Department is the Chief Wayne Barber, whose office is located in Station 3. Chief Barber works a day shift, and is assisted by an administrative assistant. Assisting the Chief with the protection of Sanford is a full-time membership of 54 employees and 3 stations.

  • Central Fire Station 1: Is the home of Engine 1 and Ladder 1. There are 3, 24-hour shifts at the station with 5 personnel assigned to each shift. The Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, and Fire Inspectors' offices are located at this station.
  • Fire Station 2: Is the home of Engine 2. There are 3, 24-hour shifts at the station with 5 personnel assigned to each shift.
  • Fire Station 3: Is the home Engine 3. There are 3, 24-hour shifts at the station with 5 personnel assigned to each shift. This is also the administrative office with the Fire Chief and the administrative assistant located here with office hours 8-5, Monday-Friday.
