The
main goal of the Beautification Division is to provide a pleasing and lasting
look for both citizens and visitors to the City of Sanford.
This is done by continually planting and maintaining the beds throughout
the City Limits.
The
Beautification Division plants each year 67,000 annual flowers, 8,000 bulbs,
and thousands of perennials. We
mow a total of 1,200 acres during grass season, prune 7,500 shrubs and trees.
A job that is essential to keeping the City free of litter is removing
42,000 lbs. of litter along right-of-ways and traffic islands.
We are currently adding new traffic islands throughout the City to improve
entranceways to the City of Sanford. We
are planting continuously, looking for a combination of color throughout the
entire summer and winter seasons.
