Solid
Waste Services goal is to develop and provide residents
of the City of Sanford with the cost-effective debris
collection program consisting of yard waste and bulk
trash pick-up that will insure a better appearance within
the city.
The Division also maintains approximately 20 acres
of City lots, mows approximately 115 miles of city right-of-way
and approximately 75 miles of Department of Transportation
right-of-ways as well as sidewalk cleaning, curb cutting,
litter pickup, graffiti removal and spraying weed killer.
City residents
pay a $125 solid waste fee annually. This fee helps
subsidize the yard waste cost and garbage cost as well
as the cost of the operation of the compost facility.
