Councilman Samuel Gaskins, representative for Ward 1, has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2018 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) federal advocacy committee.
This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC’s federal policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control and solid and hazardous waste management. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mark Stodola, mayor of Little Rock, Arkansas.
As a committee member, Mr. Gaskins will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the administration and at home.
The leadership of this year’s committee will consist of Chair Cynthia Pratt, deputy mayor, Lacey, Washington; and Vice Chairs Hattie Portis Jones, mayor pro tem, Fairburn, Georgia; and Gerry Horak, mayor pro tem, Fort Collins, Colorado.
