In response to recommendations by government officials and health organizations following the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the City of Sanford’s Public Works Department is implementing decisive measures to protect the health and safety of employees and the public.
No Interruption to Essential Services
The Public Works Department will continue to provide essential services, which include:
Municipal solid waste and recycling collection will remain on schedule. View the schedule here.
Potential Delays for Non-Essential Services
The department is operating with reduced onsite staff in compliance with the statewide ‘Stay at Home’ executive order that went into effect on March 30, 2020.
Due to these changes, there may be delays in some non-essential municipal services, such as bulk trash pickup, leaf and limb collection, and electronic waste collection. We ask for the public’s patience and understanding during this time.
As a reminder, municipal buildings are closed to the public. The City of Sanford’s compost facility is also closed. The Sanford Municipal Golf Course remains in operational with safety precautions in place. The Endor Iron Furnace Greenway is open.
The City of Sanford continues to monitor this evolving public health crisis and will respond as necessary. For questions or concerns, contact the Public Works Department at 919-777-1200.
