The City of Sanford has released its Popular Annual Financial Report: Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2018, a transparency guide that helps average residents understand the city's financial activities for July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.
The PAFR is a complementary guide to the city’s more detailed Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). It presents data on the budget, capital projects, revenues and expenses in a format that includes graphs, charts and images to make the City's $58.3 million budget easier to understand.
Both the CAFR and the PAFR are programs run by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). Both reports are submitted to the GFOA for review by both professional staff and outside reviewers with experience in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The City of Sanford has received an Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting by the organization each year it has participated.
