T. Chet Mann

Official proclamations from Sanford Mayor T. Chet Mann are issued to honor a person or an event that reflects positively upon our City. You may now use this web page to request a proclamation online. Click here to download the request form.

Please take the time to view our guidelines and some of the sample proclamations so you can see the text that has been used by others. Once you have your text finalized with the exact wording, you may email it directly to Kelly Miller, Public Information Officer for the City of Sanford.

Guidelines

·  Should be requested by or on behalf of a Sanford resident, organization, or event.

·  Should have a positive citywide impact.

·  Should not duplicate other requests.

·  Should not take sides in matters of political controversy, ideological or religious beliefs, or individual conviction.

·  Should be patterned after the example proclamations displayed below.

The Mayor's issuance of a proclamation does not constitute an endorsement.

How to apply

There are two ways to apply for a Proclamation: by mail or by email.

Email the request to Kelly Miller or mail a draft with the exact wording of your proclamation to:

Kelly Miller
Public Information Officer
PO Box 3729
Sanford, NC 27331

If you choose the email option, make sure you use the following convention for the email’s subject: PROCLAMATION – Date Needed – Brief Description. For example, PROCLAMATION – 04-12-15 – Volunteer Week.

If you need help with the exact wording, please refer to the two sample proclamations shown below. If you are asking on behalf of an annual event or national organization, you may be able to obtain a sample proclamation from past event organizers or the organization’s staff.

The draft will be reviewed to ensure that it meets the recommended criteria. All proclamations are subject to editing.

If approved, the requester will receive one signed original and one copy of the proclamation.

Process, deadlines, and mailing

The proclamation will be printed on official parchment-like paper and signed by the Mayor. It will then be mailed to the address requested. Please submit the draft at least two weeks prior to the date by which you would like your proclamation returned.

For further information, please contact Kelly Miller by telephone at 919-777-1133 or by email.
