The Transportation Department has 23 employees. The department maintains over 130 miles of city streets and right-of-way within the City limits. It strives to ensure the safety of streets and right-of-ways through cost effective maintenance. Services include installation, maintenance, repair and revitalization of streets; pothole patching; street sweeping; curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway repairs; drainage repairs; street light planning; traffic services; and snow and ice control within city right-of-ways. The department is also charged with the maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet of over 250 vehicles and items of motorized equipment as well as maintaining its own automotive parts section, to keep the City’s fleet running 24 hours a day, every day.
